Because you cannot always get the seafood you want at your local grocer, it is sometimes necessary to arrange for seafood delivery. If you do choose to buy your seafood this way, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind before you make the order.

• Is there a freshness guarantee? – If you live far away from the coast, you need to find out from the company how long it will take for the seafood delivery to arrive to your home. If it takes more than a couple of days, there is a chance the seafood will not be fresh when you receive it. Typically, seafood should be prepared within five days after being caught for optimal freshness and taste.

• Can it be overnighted? – Many companies will overnight your seafood delivery order to you, but if you need an overnight delivery it is important that you understand if this delivery still applies on weekends. Also, some companies will pay the shipping costs on seafood delivery orders if the order is big enough, whereas others require that you pay extra to have the seafood delivered more quickly.
