Lobster
Included below are a few fun facts that you may have never
thought of when devouring a delicious lobster.
• Lobsters grow slowly – It can take anywhere from four
to seven years for a lobster to grow even one pound. Some lobsters can
grow to be as large as 45 pounds.
• Lobsters are weird – The lobster is a creature that is
thought to have been around for about 100 million years, but it has
changed very little in that time. It is obvious that their look is unique,
but that is just half the story. A lobster’s brain is in its throat,
its nervous system is in the stomach, it listens by using its legs,
it tastes thanks to its feet and its teeth and stomach are in its head.
Told you they’re weird.
• Lobsters are high in protein ¬– The typical lobster
is quite high in protein. It also contains about 200 calories per six-ounce
serving. They also contain potassium, calcium and zinc – all nutrients
that the body needs.
• There is no such thing as a Maine lobster – Although
there are many lobsters captured in Maine, their real name is the American
lobster. They simply have been nicknamed otherwise due to the fact that
they are mostly caught in Maine.
