Which fish are highest in Omega-3 fatty acids?

Some of the fish that have the highest levels of Omega-3 fatty acids are swordfish, Atlantic Salmon, Silver Perch, Western Blue Grouper, Black Oreo, Blue Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel and Gemfish. Omega-3 fatty acids are important because they help to reduce the risk of heart problems.

The FDA has recommended that people eat at least two servings of these fatty acids each week. Omega-3 fatty acids are able to help a person’s heart because they work to prevent blood clots. They also help prevent abnormalities in the way that the heart beats.

How long can I keep fish in the freezer?

The amount of time that most whole fish can be kept in a freezer is six months. The amount of time that fish pieces can be kept in the freezer is three months. This includes fillets, cutlets and steaks. It also includes shellfish and mollusks.

Of course, these guidelines only are true if the freezer stays at the proper temperature, which is 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Not all domestic freezers are able to reach temperatures this low. Therefore, it is important that a person check his or her freezer’s capability before storing fish in it.

What should I look for when buying cutlets or fillets?

When purchasing fillets or cutlets, it is important that you look for the little things that will let you know if the purchase is worthwhile. You should check the flesh to see if it is bright and lustrous. The flesh of a fish caught recently should still have some elasticity to it, but should also be firm. If there is any dark muscle included in the meat, it should be a pinkish-red color. The smell should also be bearable. Some would say that no dead fish smells great, but the smell should at least not be pungent.
